So sorry for your lose for something so stupid as gambling. I, too, went down that road. Instead of suicide I had a mental breakdown. I had pawned everything I could get my hands on, wrote hot checks, you name it , I did it. Finally I couldn't take anymore and I snapped. I stayed in the mental institution for 3 months, came out a changed person. I only play for fun now. No real money involved that comes out of my pocket. I'm not ashamed of what happened for it taught me a very valuable lesson. I hope that anyone with a problem does something about it before it gets to the point that it's harmful to you. Like Irishgilly, I am here if anyone needs to just talk. I will listen without condeming. GOD BLESS.

Thanks for sharing your story Irishgilly. I had a same gambling problem few years ago. I did not know when to quit, but I went to counselling, then I moved away, got married to a guy who helped me when I was down.
Now I am happy. I DO NOT GO TO CASINOS AND SPEND ALL MY MONEY. Once in a blue moon, my hubby takes me there just for entertainment and he controls how much we will spend playing together just for fun. We have to plan our outings to the last detail because we have a beautiful kid. These days I only play free games on the net or here on noluckneeded. I became a member few days ago.

I think we will put this topic at the top of the forum for a while. The holidays are a good time to remember that moderation is the key and problem gambling can happen to anyone. If you think you are gambling too much, you are.

I think moreso than being addicted to gambling at this point, I am addicted to Cleo. lol Just can't seem to get enough of that game. Was naughty last night to no avail. However, this is a new day, a new year and every new second brings a new opportunity to just say "No".

I think the excitement of the game probably means more to me than the actual win because, even when and if I win, I will cancel my withdrawal request and keep on playing until there's no money available.

This year, there are at least a couple of trips I want to do, one President's Day Weekend and one for a cruise with friends in June. I have to have money to do these things. It's all a matter of choices, from the cradle to the grave. I can sit and gamble away my money, OR, I can save it and spend it on travel, home maintenance, personal needs, etc.

I've been doing a lot better here lately, but I have had a few setbacks. Nothing nearly as serious as previous binges. I won't beat myself up for my transgressions, because beating myself up would bring me to the point where I would keep doing it, trying to make it right. That's because I am a Compulsive Gambler.

I'm not perfect and will never be, but today is a new day and a new opportunity to work on becoming the person I want to be.

gambling can be addictive ive been down the road to where i thought i had to gamble every day spend all the money there was came close to loosing everything now i only spend money i have not money i dont we all have to use our heads before its to late
