We tend to save our gift certificates. It's dangerous because sometimes places close. We had heard that this crisis may put the Cheescake Factory under.

So yesterday we used two certificates. I went out of my way to spend more, seeing as these were already paid for. I also left a large tip for the staff.

This was a win win. We have tons of food, 6 desserts that we plan on freezing, and we had the opportunity to try a new restaurant. I was so impressed with the menu, the beautiful dining room, and the food.

When this is over we will definitely be visiting them again. They just gained a customer.

Try to support your local restaurants, especially the small ones. And don't forget to tip. This hits home for me because I bar tendered for years. These poor people live for their tips.

We have plenty of food in my house. But because we are not suffering I am trying to return the favor.....

Just passing our experience on....praying for all of you that are struggling

winking face

RGALP, Thanks for the great post! That was very smart and very king of you! I gave two food gift cards that have been sitting in my wallet to my niece and nephew and told them to spend them right away. My relatives have been getting take out from local small restaurants to support them in hopes they can survive this.

If anyone is worried about food then just reheat it to 140 degrees for your piece of mind. I got pizza delivered last week from a local small shop and stuck it in the oven and it was fine. I used to deliver pizzas and was a waitress so I agree with RGALP about good tips and they are getting even more these days.

Some of my local restaurants are really helping out and being smart as well. They are selling "grocery kits" with eggs and milk and butter and chicken and steaks with toilet paper to people because the grocery stores are a wreck.

I hate to say it but was also thinking people should spend any store gift cards they can on online orders just in case the companies go out of business or declare bankruptcy.

I also sent a donation to ....

God bless you for being a good person. That is a great idea about putting grocery packs together. I may think about doing something like that from home to help the elderly and shut ins.

Thanks for the idea!!!!!!
