Has anyone else noticed that online casinos have been freely using "Superbowl" in their email communications? I mean, they spelled it as one word, which may escape some legal issues, but most companies are so very careful these days to call it "The Big Game" or other pseudonyms for fear of getting sued by the NFL. I guess these online casinos aren't really on the NFL's radar.

I guess I did not know you can not use the word Super Bowl. Laughing They should like the free advertising. Anyway they probably say "Superbowl" as they do not realize it is "Super Bowl". Some say "Valentines Day" instead or Valentine's day. I doubt many of them even think about it, but maybe they do.

Yeah, the NFL is pretty strict about the use of the "Super Bowl" -- it has reached the point where they don't really need any additional advertising to raise awareness, so instead they have turned on those who try to "profit" off of using the name and make those users pay millions of dollars.

Online casinos certainly don't need any more legal barriers. Smile

The few places i play at use a lot of "super bowl" terms in their mail.

hmm.. never thought of the legal aspect. Maybe if it's a list of members they're sending to, they feel safer?

I think that because the online gaming industry now exists largely outside of the US, they don't attract as much interest from "US-centric" entities like the NFL, especially given the large fall-off in terms of fans once you go outside the US.
