TDTAT, That's not fully true Smile
We have two different kind of taxes: direct and indirect.
You're obligated to pay a direct tax as that applied on shop signs...you have to pay also the shadow of the sign. Neutral
If you're an indipendent contractor, a freelancer, the government would get 65 percent of your income.
saying that...the italian state is unable to guarantee the essential services.
I prefer US tax system.
You have to pay for medical expenses and cost of education but pression of taxation is quite low.

Do you know how much my governement takes from gambling? Smile
around 100 billions dollars every year.

When you buy a ticket for a lottery (also the instant ones- like scratch card) half of its price goes directly in their pockets.

In my country there are no place like LasVegas but there are some "shop" where you can play with slot machine, those physical.
The government manage and control every slots, online and physical.
For the latter, that I've never played, are programmed to retain up to 26% of the money.

So, long story short, Italy is like a car with a punctured tank.
Politician ask for more fuel, the people would want to repair the tank.
