deming12, Hello, the UIGEA law is for financial institutions. They are not allowed to do direct transfers to online casinos/poker rooms. Draw your own conclusions from that. Members have used ewallets without issue in the last few days. If you use a smaller credit union as a bank they could block transactions to/from ewallets, but I have heard of no problems with the larger banks as of yet. One member that uses a smaller credit union had their deposits blocked a few weeks ago, their card was cancelled and reissued, and they told him/her not to use the new card for those purposes again.
Some individual states (the 13 from the microgaming days) have specific laws about online gambling, but this federal law does not make playing online a criminal offense. From what I know, players are not mentioned in the bill and it only refers to financial institutions. I know in Washington State it is criminal offense to play poker online, but that is the only state law I am aware of that has that distinction.
Obviously I am not a lawyer, and my advice can not be taken as legal advice.... consult a lawyer if you need legal advice about your particular state.

deming12, I am sure it will be a bit of a cat and mouse game with the processors, like it was a few years back when US players got kicked out of playtech casinos, then microgaming stopped taking new US players. If it gets bad and no one can deposit or get paid, the casinos will close to US players. From what I hear, no one seems to think that will happen.
We can only hope that congress quits screwing around (realizes they can actually help customers and make lots of tax revenue) and gets the regulation bills passed (that are already drafted and waiting to be debated) and let us adults do what the hell we want with our money. It is working fabulously for the UK, so maybe congress will do something useful and pragmatic.

I agree with you 100% .. I would not care about paying taxes especially if it meant no hassles and the freedom to do what we want with our own money .. New York could sure use the revenue right now instead of taxing water & soda!!
