Notable Major League Baseball Matchups July 30th, 2018 by Chris Watford for NoLuckNeeded.com

We’re in the latter half of the long MLB season and it’s pretty easy to tell the good teams from the not-so-good teams. Over the next few weeks we’ll see which teams are ready for the playoffs and which teams will be sitting out. But first, let’s take a look at the notable matchups for July 30th.

Seattle Mariners vs. Houston Astros

The Mariners have had their eyes set on the playoffs for the past 17 years and they’re hoping that this will finally be the year; however, this next week won’t be easy for them. The Mariners have won only one of four games against the Astros this season and are currently on a cold streak, going 3-7 in their last ten. The first pitch of the series will be thrown on July 30th, 10:10 PM ET on MLB.tv.

Chicago Cubs vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

The Pirates are red hot but they might have their work cut out for them against the Cubs this week. Chicago pitcher Jon Lester is expected to start for the Cubs this Tuesday and he’s been something special this year. He didn’t walk anyone in over six innings in his last outing - and he’s 2-0 against the Pirates this year with a 4.00 ERA. James Taillon is expected to throw the first pitch for the Pirates. Taillon hasn’t pitched against the Cubs this year but with a 3.09 ERA this series should prove to be pretty interesting. First pitch will be thrown July 30th, 10:10 PM ET on MLB.tv.

LA Dodgers vs. Milwaukee Brewers

Both of these teams have been performing pretty well this year, the Dodgers have gone 7-3 over their last ten, while the Brewers have gone 6-4 over their last ten. The Dodgers’ starting pitcher, Kenta Maeda, had a decent outing against the Phillies recently, but he eventually gave up a lead by allowing Jorge Alfaro to hit a three-run homer. Freddy Peralta of the Brewers is hoping to turn things around this series as well. Last time out he walked four batters and allowed all of the baserunners to score. Tune in to MLB.tv on July 30th to see if these pitchers can turn things around.
