Is the NFL a Thorn in Online Gamings side? | gaming laws

Opinion piece (this is not necessarily the view of NoLuckNeeded)

Ever since the UIGEA ban was put into place, the National Football League has done everything it can to make sure it stays in place, but why? The NFL has stated that they believe that online gaming is a threat to the “integrity” of their sport. Are they kidding? The NFL has to look no further than their own backyard and some of its players to find the answer to that problem! How arrogant to try and blame your sports league problems and tarnished reputation on the online gaming community! Some food for thought, what does a poker room, or an online casino with slot games, or a game of craps have to do with the integrity of the NFL? Why are they not just focusing on sports betting, something that Las Vegas and other land based casinos have been promoting for years and years? Why are they not trying to ban those gaming places? Because they can’t, and they should not be able to try and dominate what online gamblers do either.

The NFL has gone as far as hiring a top Senator’s aide to lobby to congress their case, and the Poker Players Alliance is right on their back door with their own $3 Million dollar campaign to get UIGEA overturned! This should be something worth betting on! Other sports leagues including the NCAA and Hockey league have also supported the20ban on online gaming, but have not gone as far as the National Football League in their quest to try and persuade congress to keep UIGEA in place. What will happen if the NFL is successful in keeping American gamblers banned from gambling online at their favorite casinos, poker rooms, and bingo halls? I would hope a boycott against the NFL season would be implemented! If we can’t gamble were and when we want, why should we support a sports league that feels it can dictate what we do with our time and money? As long as we are spending our money on their football games, or NFL sports packages on Dish TV, or spending our money on merchandise that promotes their “untarnished” sport, then everything is fine, but let us decide to go play a slot game, or a poker game then we are now hurting the “integrity” of their sport. This is absolutely ridiculous and I hope that the “Poker Player Alliance” tackles this problem and pulls those thorns out of our sides!
