Hi friends!
I'm just curious...where I live (Michigan) all land casinos are still closed. I'm curious how many of my fellow gamblers have casinos open yet? Or, when they do open...would you go? There is talk of some opening far North in our state soon. What are your plans, and to those that have been able to go...what was your experience like?

Great question. thanks for posting!

I have not been in any public buildings since early March, even for groceries. I doubt I will be going to places with crowds of people inside buildings like land casinos before they have a vaccine or if I happen to catch it and survive and have immunity.

I just do not trust people to clean properly and not sneeze in my face.

Live Poker is even worse than land casinos as chips get touched and you sit face to face with people.

I feel a lot safer outside so now that I think about it, I would play on a live machine if they put machines outside on the sidewalk or in an open courtyard with about 10 feet spacing. And if I brought my own wipes to clean the machine.

I got my hair cut outside two weeks ago by my cousin who is a hair dresser and I did not catch anything so that makes me feel better about outside contact. beaming face with smiling eyes

I probably would not play blackjack or other table games even if they were outside though. Sitting around a table with strangers breathing and coughing on me is not gonna happen for a long time. Also touching chips and cards that strangers have recently touched sounds repulsive at this time.

I agree! I have not left the house since early March, either. I work from home. I always enjoyed going to the casino once a month or so, but even before the virus, it would gross me out when I would see ladies leaving the bathroom without washing their hands and then proceed to sit down at a slot machine and rub their hands all over it. Yuck!
I just wonder what the casinos are going to be like when they open. Everyone sits SO close at the tables, touches the cards and chips, and even high-fives eachother. Even at the slots, it's close quarters. I don't know how they will be able to make the casinos safe. I, personally, am in no hurry to go back to a casino.

kaymast24, I think the land casinos will turn off some machines to make people space out as that is what they did before they closed. So maybe one live machine and three off and then more cleaning. I think I read the seminole casinos were talking about 3 people max per gaming table but that's still very close as those tables are small.

Now if they start sending me $500 freeplays or something I may have to gear up in googles, masks and gloves and go take a shot if I am feeling extra brave. I'm not sure. I'd be more inclined to go to a local casino than fly anywhere, that is for sure.

I am so glad this topic came up. I live in Wisconsin. They have opened a casino in the U P. Some of our local ones are considering opening. Temps are taken at the door, face mask required. Can only play machines with green dots on them, this means they have been sanitized. And if you leave a machine need to get attendant to sanitize it again. No smoking. Drinking cups can not be refilled, need a new one. I Just think its to early to open up and even though, I am a casino Junky, I would not go.. Just don't trust that things will be safe.

Those are some good policies but I am more worried about the air I breathe. Plenty of docs and nurses have gotten sick even wearing the masks and gloves if they are breathing in the virus particles long enough.

I think the air quality depends on the casino size and air system. The ones with massive ceilings and great air systems will probably be better than the old low ceiling smaller casinos. For instance, in Vegas the smoke does not bother me much in the big strip casinos. But some of the smaller casinos I used to go to years ago in Colorado got very smokey and obviously were much smaller with less ventilation. I went to a Hard Rock in Florida and the smoke was terrible and it was a big casino (Vegas sized) so they probably had a bad air system.

I just got an email that some of the seminole casinos such as Hard Rock Tampa are opening tomorrow, May 21st. They say face masks required. Social distancing enforced. Hand sanitizer stations are available. Capacity 50%. Temp checks for staff and guests. They also talk about their air purification and chip sanitization and frequent cleaning.

"Air Filtration System
All Seminole Gaming Properties have been equipped with state-of-the-art AtmosAir™ advanced bipolar ionization air purification and disinfecting systems that are designed to destroy viruses in the air and on hard surfaces. Also, all HVA filters are HEPA compliant with the highest MERV rating."

Hotel & Elevators
The front desk of our hotel properties will be retrofitted with protective plexiglass barriers and spacious queuing at six feet will be enforced to protect all guests. Contactless checkout such as express check-out, telephone, video or email is strongly encouraged. Enhanced sanitizing protocols will be scheduled for all elevator touch points such as doors, handrails, call buttons and panels at hourly intervals.

Casino Table Games
Select table games will be retrofitted to include plexiglass shields. Maximum occupancy per table will vary based on table size. All gaming equipment, tables and chairs will be sanitized and gaming chips sprayed with sanitizing solution

Once again. Great topic. I live in Northern Wisconsin. Hop and a skip to the UP. Some have opened, And I hear some of those that opened. Are now closing again. I have not been to any casino. Even tho I really want to. Just not going to chance it. I would really like to go and visit my family, and grandchild. So NO.
