California Still Pursuing Online Poker Legalization
It is no surprise that the recession is effecting everyone in the United States. One state has a plan to boost the economy on their own turf by doing something that has worked for others. What could be the answer to such a crisis? Representatives of California seems to think that Online Poker could be just the answer to such a problem.

State bill number AB2026 or "The California Gambling Control/Intrastate online Poker Legalization Act" was introduced in 2008 and was put in place to find out the affects that online gambling could have on the economy. From this study, they have found that there are gains to be made from the online poker players of California. With this in mind, the bill was revised to include the legalization of the online sport.

Those of California are only worried about the Indian casinos. They are worried that the Indian casinos will see this as a threat and try to fight this bill to the bitter end. The bill does not threaten the casinos, it gives the state of California a much needed boost in a time of economic crisis. State representatives are prepared to attend an upcoming conference on online gambling, and speak on the matter.

According to Bloomberg indexes, the general obligation bonds of 10-years are now paying 1.23 points above benchmark municipal debt. Definitely not a record that California wants to have. Could passing this bill make a huge difference? Online Poker players in The Golden State might not have to wait very much longer. It is hoped that by July 1, 2009 this bill will be implemented and all of those in California will be able to enjoy one of their favorite pastimes, and the state will enjoy a nice boost in tax revenue.
