This is Great News, but I won't hold my breath. Though it's good for tax dollars, but it's really hard to believe that people from the moral majority, or the radical right wing; won't throw a fit over this. From the same people that didn't want Howard Stern to have his own channel, will come the complaints.
People just don't seem to want people to choose what they want in thier lives, some think that everyone needs to be led and regulated to be someone of character. Though people don't need to visit online gaming sites, and though it's thier choice, others think that there is a perversion to the psyche if one gambles. They let thier moral choices try to rule the country,
What can't be argued with though, is the heap of money that could be made by taxing it. I heard of this story as well. I heard that it was slated to make lotteries the stepping stone online, then perhaps casinos.
Why can't peoples own civil liberties speak for what they want?
Facts are simple:
Tons of money could be made by online gaming in tax dollars
The govt. needs tons of money.
Software auditors could regulate this for the states.
Land based casinos fear this and will lobby against(Very strong groups)
Moral majority people against
Bottom line?
People should have the right to choose to goto the casino, in the car, or in the cyberworld. People should as well be able to turn the station if they don't like what they are watching or listening to.
The decision should be with the individual. I think they will EVENTUALLY come around. The govt. can't afford (literally) not too. They listed that old law from 61' and stated it's slated at sportsbook to inch the snail forward. I think it will be legal, but not for about ten years.
Darn, do I miss the playtech and cryptologic sites.
Well, though some rules stink. I still am proud to be an American.
Change comes slow, because if it's too fast the shock will cause people to rebuke it. |
