Online Casino Ban Law Facing IMEGA Court
There will be many challenges during the following few months in an attempt to repeal the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act which bans payments to online casinos.

Pro-gambling Congressman Barney Frank, is expected to move to repeal the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. IMEGA will also have their case against the UIGEA heard as from 6th July 2009,

The US Third Circuit Court of Appeals was meant to hear arguments by the attorneys acting for the Interactive Media Entertainment and Gaming Association this month but due to a contested addition to the evidence, oral presentation was delayed.

IMEGA insists that the court include an accurate record of all online state lottery transactions that the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act have blocked despite the distinctive exemption that was granted to the lotteries.

A large part of IMEGA’S complaints against the UIGEA is that the law is too vague. This vagueness of the law has resulted in financial companies having to decide to what the law applies and in the process New Hampshire and North Dakota have suffered lost sales.

The Department of Justice, has, however, opposed any additional facts being added to the records as they contend that direct evidence that the UIGEA is not functioning properly is not relevant to the case. The court has scheduled the hearing to begin at a later date than what was originally planned.

IMEGA’S chairman is happy that the Court is moving forward on this matter. The Department of Justice’s opposition to the lottery evidence is based on the fact that it occurred after the district court ruling.
