Precisely to understand what is done here, since this can be sort of a sticking point of view, one thing that can trip you up when you begin playing Omaha—though at your first time playing Omaha you may have difficulty remembering this—you can never play the board. For instance, this board came out at once, actually; 8, 7, 6, 5, 4. This is not Texas Hold ‘Em we’re playing Omaha, so I am not in a position to play the board. I have to make my best hand with 3 cards from the community cards, then 3 cards from the board, and finally 2 cards from my pocket cards. Which means, in this case, I do not have a straight? In fact, have but a duo of sixes. An Ace six from my pocket cards, then the six from the board, and next 2 highest cards. Actually, with that hand, most likely want to let it up. Toss it away pretty prematurely." |

Similarly, the betting evolves in the same manner as NLHE. The right point is first to proceed and the big blind is final to act. Betting is characteristically a multiple of the big blind for example 1x,2x,3x the big blind—part the pot, or the volume of the pot. A bet cannot surpass the amount of the pot at the time of your bet, therefore 'Pot Limit'. |
