How to get more Twitter followers in 10 easy steps:
How to get Twitter followers organically and without being annoying

1. Follow the top 237 that will follow you back:

2. Be funny.
3. Be nice.
4. People like cool avatars. Try one without your face. (unless you are REALLY hot, in which case it could help)
5. Follow people back.
6. First impression. Take great care in the last message you leave for the day. Many people will read your last tweet only and decide in 1 second to follow you or not.
7. Leave your political affiliation out of your bio, unless that is what you tweet about.
8. Make your twitter page (background) easy to look at.
9. Do not follow 2000 people the first day. Be patient at Twitter.
10. CONTRIBUTE
Extra Credit- participate in Follow Friday. Name some good people you
follow in a message and add #followfriday
Extra Credit- If you want the comedian Stephen Fry to follow you, post a message
that includes: #followmestephen and wait a few weeks. Do not do it more than once, or he will get mad!

Once you get followers, how to keep them:

1. Do not talk politics, unless you are a known political tweeter and people still follow you.
2. Do not tweet about how many members you have.
3. Do not tweet more than 20 times a day.
4. Do not tweet every thought that crosses your mind.
5. Do not retweet the "Sillyguy has a crazy idea - 15,000 new followers in one day"
6. Do not "sell" only. If every tweet is a sales pitch, you will loose followers.
7. Do not resend the same tweet over and over.
8. Do not curse.
9. Do not talk about yourself in the 3rd person.
10. Do not send annoying auto Direct messages, if you send one, make it funny.
