Baccarat is a gambling card game that many experts believe was introduced to France from Italy during the reign of Charles XIII, who ruled France from 1483-1498.
It is a popular game in land based casinos especially reserved for the rich and famous but it is also a game that translates well into online casinos.
There are three basic versions of the game, Baccarat chemin de fer (railway), Baccarat banque (a deux tableaux) and punto banco (North American Baccarat).
The game itself is very simple to play and has only three possible outcomes 'player', 'banker' and 'tie'. 'Player' and 'banker' are options on which the gambler can bet and they do not refer to the player or banker.
Baccarat in online casinos is resolved very quickly. The player makes the initial bet, the cards are dealt and the cards are scored.
In online casinos there are two hands, a banker hand and a player hand, where two or three cards are dealt from a shoe that contains around 6 or 8 decks. Bets can be made on either hand or a tie between the two.

The cards are totalled and if the score comes to over 9 – that is 2 figures then the first digit is ignored. If either baccarat hand has a score of 8 or 9 it is referred to as a natural and both hands remain as they are. The object of baccarat is to bet on the highest hand. The final score determines a win or a tie and the game mores on to recovering bets.
If the game moves on then the outcomes in the online casinos are calculated thus – if the players two cards come to less than 6 the player must take another card and then stand. If the online casinos banker hand comes to more than 6 they must stand and show their hand. If they have 0,1 or 2 in their hand they must take another card. If their score is 3 and the online casinos player's third card is 0-9 the banker must draw a third card. If it is 4 and the player's third card is 2-7 then the banker draws a third card. If the player's third card is 4-7 the banker draws a third card.
If both hands in the online casinos have a final equal score then the tie bet wins or whoever bet on the hand that is closest to nine wins.
Baccarat is actually a simple game to play and once all the scoring and betting is understood it is fun to play.
